Introduction Post About Me!




  Hi everyone, my name is Natalie Stark!! I am a junior at Molloy and I am in the 5 year Early Childhood Special Education program with a concentration in math.

 I am currently working the after school program at my elementary school, and I also have been subbing there from time to time. I am also a high school girls and boys volleyball coach, and high school girls basketball coach!! If it is not obvious, I love sports. 

Some of my other hobbies are reading, going to the beach (everyday of the summer), and spending time with friends and family. A fun fact about me is that I am Croatian. 

I am so excited for this class this semester!!

          There needs to be an end to bullying. NO child should feel scared or uncomfortable to go to school. It is not the responsibility of the child, the parents or the teachers. It is the responsibility of everyone everywhere. Bullying comes in many different ways. For examples there's cyberbullying, teasing, physical abuse, and mental/emotional abuse. Not one of these types of bullying is worse than the other in my opinion because they all end with pain. Not only can bullying affect a child's mental and physical health but it may also effect their academics. Bullying can lead to depression, and suicide. It should never get that far. Final Reflection Vlog

     This class has been very educational and beneficial for us as future educators. We learned about the critical issues seen in schools today. Not only did we learn about the ways these issues are seen and impact a student or teacher, but we learned ways to resolve and work through these issues. I enjoyed this class very much and feel it helped me gain more knowledge for me to be a great teacher. Not only did I learn from the many articles and videos but I got to see my classmates point of views by reading their blog posts. Homelessness Awareness

          Thinking about how there are students and children in the world without a home or a set place to stay is heartbreaking. " Since  2008 , the number of homeless students identified by public schools each year has increased by more than 100%, from approximately 680,000 to 1,384,000 students in 2019 "  (Cai, 2020). These numbers are way too big.  Especially now with the pandemic people have been and may be facing homelessness. Children faced with homelessness suffer not only physically and mentally but academically. The film Homestretch was so heartbreaking to watch. The stories shared from the three kids, Roque, Kasey and Anthony all just made me so sad that any child has to deal with that. As hard as life was pushing them, it was very inspiring to see their devotion to their educations. In the film Kasey even said during one of her sessions how she "has to finish school.
